The Turn of the Screw

Casting has been announced for a chilling new stage adaptation of Henry James' classic gothic novella The Turn of The Screw, coming to the Almeida Theatre from Fri 18 Jan 2013 - Sat 16 Mar 2013.

Adapted by Rebecca Lenkiewicz, and directed by Lindsay Posner, Anna Madeley stars as the governess, with Gemma Jones as Mrs Grose, the housekeeper, and 16 year old Laurence Belcher in the role of Miles.

Laurence (represented by Curtis Brown) appeared in the 2010 Doctor Who Christmas Special, as well as film roles in X-Men:First Class and has most recently filmed the role of Prince William in the new film about Princess Diana (now called Diana, previously Caught in Flight). His previous theatre credits include The Late Middle Classes (Donmar Warehouse) and The Habit of Art (National Theatre).

The role of Flora is shared by:

10 year old Emilia Jones (represented by ARG Talent) who attends Saturday classes at the Sylvia Young Theatre School. She has appeared in Shrek the Musical (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane) as well as film roles in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and as young Jasmine in One Day.

12 year old Lucy Morton (represented by A&J Management) who also attends Sylvia Young Saturday classes.

"The incredible Miles and Flora spectacular is about to begin. Do not leave the auditorium even if you are terrified. Or shocked. Some of the show is true and some is fiction.”
Miss Jessel is dead. A new governess arrives at a remote estate in Bly to care for Miles and Flora. Wild but angelic they charm their guardian with flowers, poetry and song. But as she grows to love her two wards, figures appear in the darkness outside and the corners of the house are haunted by those that have gone before. The Governess must confront her fear and protect the children from the alarming dangers that surround them.
